Douglas fir yields more timber than any other species in North America. For that reason, many older buildings and deconstruction projects provide a substantial amount of old growth fir. The majority of our inventory was sourced from the nearby Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo.
The outside of these timbers age to a gray color but when cut yield a spectrum of orange yellow and brown hues. Nail holes, band marks, and saw textures are among the common features of reclaimed wood that are on display with this material.
